After years of stagnation, Saab is reinvented with the cool Saab 9-5. It might not have the panache or engineering polish of its German competition, but it's cheaper, fun to drive and has a style all its own. Saab 9-5 Sedan offers the following pros: Compelling performance and handling; original layout inside and out; tremendous trunk; convenient seats; decent value for the class. Saab 9-5 Sedan drawbacks are: Lacks the fit and finish of German luxury sedans; back headroom can be tight; shares some dashboard bits with non-luxury GM vehicles.

The 2011 Saab 9-5 is a midsize luxury sedan available in Turbo4, Turbo4 Luxury, Turbo6 XWD and Aero versions. The 4 and 6 suffixes indicate the engine's cylinder count. Traditional equipment on the Turbo4 contains 17-inch wheels, foglamps, automatic wipers, keyless ignition, cruise control, dual-zone automatic conditioning, performance front seatings, driver memory functions, leather upholstery, a tilt-and-telescoping helm, 60/40 split-folding back bench, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, Bluetooth and a nine-speaker audio system with a CD player, radio, an optional stereo slot and an Ipod/usb stereo interface.

The Turbo4 Luxury adds 18-inch wheels, headlight washers, a panoramic sunroof, front and back parking sensors, power-folding and auto-dimming look mirrors, keyless ignition/entry and remote ignition. The Turbo6 XWD adds the same equipment, plus a V6 and all-wheel drive. Both models can be equipped with a pair of features packages. The Technology suite contains a lane-departure warning system, advanced parking assist, adaptive bi-xenon headlamps and a head-up screen. The Back Passenger suite adds tri-zone automatic conditioning, back bench stereo controls, and a DVD entertainment system with two front-headrest-mounted diplays. A navigator with an 8-inch touchscreen and 10GB of digital audio cargo is also auxillary.

The Saab 9-5 Aero gets the Technology suite traditional, plus slightly various front and back fascia designs, various 18-inch wheels, updated back brakes, sport-tuned adjustable suspension, an electronic limited-slip back differential, adjustable drive options, paddle shifters, a sport steering wheel, sport seatings and alloy pedals. The navigator and Back Passenger suite are auxillary. .
