The 2012 Jaguar XJ beautifully blends eye-catching style with dynamic poise. It's also a bargain. Jaguar XJ Sedan offers the following pros: Exquisite interior; superb engines; nimble for its class; abundant traditional features; strong luxury vehicle value. Jaguar XJ Sedan drawbacks are: Not as roomy as rivals; fiddly touchscreen controls; no feature for all-wheel drive.

The 2012 Jaguar XJ is a full-size five-passenger sedan available in regular (XJ) and long-wheelbase (XJL) models.

The base Jaguar XJ comes traditional with 19-inch wheels, an adjustable and self-leveling suspension, adjustable drive options, front and back parking sensors, a rearview camera, automatic wipers, automatic bi-xenon headlights, auto-dimming and power-folding mirrors, a performance cargo lid, a panoramic sunroof and keyless ignition/entry.

Inside, the Jaguar XJ gets dual-zone automatic conditioning, a heated and powered tilt-and-telescoping helm, heated and ventilated performance front seatings (12-way driver, eight-way passenger, four-way lumbar for both), front bench memory functions, heated back seatings and extended leather upholstery. Traditional electronic features include a fully digital LCD gauge cluster, a touchscreen interface, a navigator, voice controls, Bluetooth phone and stereo connectivity, and a 14-speaker audio system with a CD player, radio, HD radio, digital audio cargo and an Ipod interface. The Portfolio suite adds four-zone automatic climate control, add-on front bench adjustments with a massaging option, heated and ventilated back seatings, add-on leather trim, a faux-suede headliner and more color choices.

The Jaguar XJL comes traditional with the Portfolio suite, and is thus known as the Jaguar XJL Portfolio. Like all "l" models, it also gets add-on back bench legroom, back vanity mirrors and manual back side sunshades. The Executive Suite adds a performance back sunshade, back flip-down trays, a wood-trimmed helm, chrome mirror covers and updated floor mats.

The Jaguar XJ Supercharged gets a more comprehensive motor, various suspension tuning, 20-inch wheels, adaptive headlights, automatic high beams (optional on base Jaguar XJ and Jaguar XJL Portfolio), the performance back sunshade and a 20-speaker Bowers & Wilkins surround-sound stereo system (a stand-alone feature on the Jaguar XJ and Jaguar XJL Portfolio). The Jaguar XJL Supercharged gets the usual "l" upgrades, but contains the back enterprise trays as traditional.

The Jaguar XJ Supersport gets an even more comprehensive supercharged motor, performance tires, updated leather upholstery, add-on leather trim and a rear-seat entertainment system (optional on all other trims) that contains two headrest-mounted diplays.

Auxillary on all Jaguar XJ models are a heated windshield and an adaptive cruise control system, which contains a forward collision alert and advance emergency brake assist. A Sport suite will be a late-availability feature for the Jaguar XJ Supercharged and Jaguar XJ Supersport. .
