The 2012 Ford Transit Connect is a compact work van available in XL Van, XLT Van, XLT Wagon and XLT Luxury Wagon versions. The primary difference between Van and Wagon trims is the presence of a second-row bench. All versions come with dual sliding side doors, but these can be deleted, as can the back door glass.
Traditional equipment on the XL Van contains 15-inch metal wheels, an integrated blind-spot mirror, back privacy glass, air-conditioning, a height-adjustable driver bench with an armrest and lumbar adjustment, cloth upholstery, a tilt-and-telescoping helm and a two-speaker radio. The Performance Group adds keyless entry and full performance accessories. The XLT contains the Performance Group plus body-colored bumpers, a back window defroster, heated mirrors, map lights, a 12-volt trunk space performance point, a CD player and an optional stereo slot.
The Wagon version of the XLT gets foglights, a three-person back seat bench and a four-speaker stereo system. The XLT Luxury gets special look trim, back trunk door pocket cargo and flip-open glass windows in the trunk space.
Features on all Ford Transit Connects include an in-dash computer (featuring a touchscreen screen, a Microsoft operating system, a over-the-air mouse and keyboard, a Garmin navigator and Internet access) and the Crew Chief car tracking system. Bluetooth can be added to the in-dash computer. The Van trims can also be equipped with the Tool Link by Dewalt tool tracking and inventory system. Fleet consumers can also add back doors that open to 255 degrees, back parking sensors and a rearview camera. .
