The 2012 Ford Edge is a midsize crossover SUV that seatings five passengers. It is available in SE, SEL, Limited and Sport versions.
The base SE comes traditional with 17-inch alloy wheels, tinted windows, integrated blind spot mirrors, air-conditioning, cruise control, a tilt-and-telescoping helm with stereo controls, reclining back seatings, and a six-speaker audio system with a CD player and an optional stereo slot. The Comfort suite adds back parking sensors, look keyless entry code pad, automatic headlights, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Also auxillary are radio and the Sync controls interface (including Bluetooth and Ipod connectivity).
The Ford Edge SEL contains all the above equipment along with 18-inch wheels, dual-zone automatic conditioning, an eight-way performance driver bench (includes performance lumbar), an "easyfold" second row bench and a leather-wrapped helm. The Leather Convenience suite adds leather upholstery, heated front seatings and a six-way performance passenger bench with manual recline and fold-flat capability. Also auxillary is a rearview camera and the Myford Touch system, which is an controls interface that contains a big central touchscreen, a secondary display in the gauge cluster, improved steering wheel controls, improved Ford Sync features (turn-by-turn navigation and traffic reports) and a second USB port for stereo devices.
From there, the Ford Edge lineup forks into two directions. The Ford Edge Limited comes with all of the above, plus 18-inch chrome wheels, heated mirrors, an eight-way performance passenger bench (with performance lumbar) and a 12-speaker Sony audio system with HD radio. The Driver Entry suite contains keyless ignition/entry, remote ignition and a performance liftgate (available separately on the SEL). Also auxillary are 20-inch wheels, xenon headlamps and adaptive cruise control with a collision warning system.
The Ford Edge Sport, in contrast, essentially comes with all of the Sel's traditional and auxillary equipment along with 22-inch wheels, a sport-tuned suspension, special look look-and-feel and the Sony audio system.
All but the SE can be equipped with several other features. The Vision suite adds automatic wipers and a blind-spot warning system. The navigator contains real-time traffic, weather and other data via the radio feed. There is also a panoramic "vista" sunroof and a rear-seat entertainment system. .
