The base XFE (extra fuel efficiency) model contains 15-inch metal wheels, Onstar, a tilt helm, a 60/40-split back bench with a cargo pass-through, a trip computer and a four-speaker audio with CD/MP3 player, radio and an optional stereo slot. XFE models achieve slightly better fuel efficiency by using low-rolling-resistance tires along with taller transmission gearing. Most LS and LT models can also be Xfe-badged, but must be specified with the 15-inch wheels and manual transmission.
The LS trim level is nearly identical to the base XFE, but adds air-conditioning. The LT adds full performance accessories, updated front seatings and a front center armrest. A second LT trim level -- the 2LT -- has the above equipment plus 16-inch alloy wheels, antilock brakes and cruise control.
The Chevrolet Cobalt LT coupe has the widest choice of available features, including the Mylink suite, which adds 16-inch aluminum wheels, antilock brakes, Bluetooth, a USB port for the stereo system and a leather-wrapped helm with stereo and cruise controls. The Sun and Audio suite adds a sunroof and a luxury Pioneer seven-speaker audio system. LT coupe consumers can also opt for the Sport Look suite that contains a back spoiler, front foglamps, 17-inch alloy wheels, reworked front and back fascias, Bluetooth, white-faced sport gauges and a leather-wrapped helm with remote stereo and cruise controls. Most of these add-ons are available on the LS or LT trims as individual features. Leather upholstery with heated front seatings is available on the Chevrolet Cobalt 2LT only.
Finally, the SS kicks the traditional features into overdrive with a turbocharged motor, 18-inch wheels shod with performance tires, an exclusive sport-tuned suspension, Brembo front brakes, original look and dashboard look-and-feel cues, a sunroof, sport seatings covered with a suedelike fabric, the luxury Pioneer audio, Bluetooth and a turbo boost gauge. A limited-slip front differential and sport pedals are auxillary for the SS. .
