The 2012 Audi A5 is available in both coupe and convertible (cabriolet) body styles and provided in three versions: Luxury, Luxury Plus and Prestige. The high-performance S5 is discussed in a separate review.
Traditional features on the Luxury trim include 18-inch wheels, automatic headlights, foglights, cruise control, automatic wipers, eight-way performance front seatings, leather upholstery, automatic conditioning, a dash-mounted Multi Media Interface (MMI) controller and a 10-speaker audio system with a CD player, radio and an optional stereo slot. The coupe features a tilt-only sunroof, while the cabriolet gets a power-retractable soft top and a wind blocker.
An auxillary Comfort suite adds Bluetooth and an Ipod stereo interface, while a Style suite contains bi-xenon headlights, LED running lamps and taillights, and bright metal look trim.
The Luxury Plus trim gains the above features as traditional and tops it with tri-zone automatic conditioning, auto-dimming mirrors, heated front seatings and driver bench memory functions. Available features include the Navigation suite, which adds a navigator, a more user-friendly console-mounted MMI controller, a rearview camera, back parking sensors, voice controls, HD radio and a color trip computer display.
The Audi A5 Prestige comes traditional with the equipment in the Navigation suite and further adds adaptive headlights, keyless ignition/entry, a blind-spot detection system and a Bang & Olufsen luxury audio system (optional on the Luxury Plus). The Prestige can further be equipped with Audi Drive Select, which offers adaptive suspension dampers plus adjustable options for suspension, steering and transmission. Adaptive cruise control is provided as a stand-alone feature.
The Sport suite -- available for the Luxury Plus and Prestige versions -- adds a sport-tuned suspension, sport seatings and shift paddles for the automatic transmission. The Sport suite is required to add the S Line suite (only available on the Prestige), which adds 19-inch wheels, black look trim, faux-suede bench inserts and brushed aluminum dashboard trim. The cabriolet's Convenience suite adds a neck-level heating system, ventilated front sport seatings, adjustable lumbar for the passenger bench and updated leather upholstery. .
