In the nearly two years that have passed since Saturn brought us the compact Ion sedan and quad coupe, tweaks to improve sound deadening and revisions to the interior that eliminate the mismatched plastics and colors address some of the more glaring problems with the Ion. However, the driving experience remains untouched, and the Ion continues to discourage enthusiastic driving.

Renault Wind's length of 3. 83 meters sees the newcomer jack between Twingo (360, m) and Clio (403, m), and marks the addition to the Renault range of a new, compact, coupé-roadster concept that is ideally suited to everyday motoring. Renault sees no reason why the freedom associated with wind-in-thehair motoring should be the exclusive reserve of the higher-end segments.

It was launched at the 2001 Geneva Motorshow to replace the already-discontinued Safrane and has nothing in common with the 1990s concept vehicle of the same name. Small, purposeful and aggressive the Renault Twingo Renaultsport looks like it has been left in the summer sun and started to melt into the road. It has lower side skirts, much bigger wheelarches, updated bumpers and skinny low-profile tyres.
